The Federation Council proposed giving preference to Russian women with children when entering a university.

The head of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy, Andrei Kutepov, put forward this initiative.

The senator described his proposal in a letter that he sent to the Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, TASS reports.

A member of the upper house of parliament believes that Russian women with children should have an advantage when entering a university.

Kutepov suggested considering having a child as an individual achievement of the applicant.

For this, the applicant should be awarded the maximum number of additional points to her exam results.

However, it is proposed to give such preferences not to everyone, but to those who gave birth within 12 months before submitting documents.

The parliamentarian outlined at least three results that this decision will bring.

Firstly, it will become easier for women with children to obtain a higher education diploma.

Secondly, such a benefit will add to the list of measures aimed at combating termination of pregnancy.

Thirdly, the initiative will raise the status of families with children.
