Deputy Yevgeny Marchenko believes that the Family Code in Russia is outdated.

Some previously adopted norms do not take into account modern realities, the legislator emphasizes.

Marchenko cited the situation with alimony as an example, reports the Parliamentary Newspaper .

The deputy pointed out that many mothers do not report on what specific purposes they spend alimony on.

“Some people spend money in beauty salons instead of buying something for their children,” the parliamentarian said.

He advocated for the introduction of a rule that would force mothers to report on the spending of alimony.

In addition, Marchenko proposed considering a law allowing a husband to divorce an unfaithful wife during pregnancy and within 12 months after the birth of the “unwon” child.

This initiative was not supported by deputy Nina Ostanina. She pointed out that in each case there are different circumstances when a child is not born from a spouse.

In this situation, as Ostanina asserts, it is first and foremost the woman and her baby who are in a vulnerable position who need to be protected.
