Sentence toughened for Bryansk woman who burned her passport

A Bryansk court has reviewed the punishment of a woman who had previously burned her passport.

It was decided to toughen the verdict handed down to the convicted resident of Bryansk.

The press service of the Bryansk Region Prosecutor's Office reported this on its official website .

It is noted that Evgenia Hoffman was initially sentenced to 2 years and 3 months of restricted freedom under two articles:

  • desecration of state symbols of the Russian Federation;
  • causing grievous bodily harm.

At the same time, the state prosecutor considered that the sentence handed down to the accused was too lenient.

He filed the relevant motions with the court. After reviewing the evidence, the court supported the prosecutor, as a result of which Hoffman received 1 year of imprisonment to be served in a penal colony.

Circumstances of the case

The defendant in the case first came to the attention of law enforcement agencies on November 12, 2023.

The woman had an argument with another visitor to the Bryansk Hotel and attacked her, striking the victim hard in the face with her head.

Then, on January 1, 2024, while intoxicated, the defendant in the case burned her passport near one of the local nightclubs.
