The farmer became a victim of Russians who believed the fake video en masse.
A deepfake has sparked an influx of people looking to cut free cabbage from a private field in Yakutsk.
The son of the head of the farming enterprise spoke about the situation, RIA Novosti reports.
Arthur Em reported that a video has been circulated on the Internet.
In it, a certain woman states that in the fields of the company "EM" residents of the region can harvest cabbage for free.
The video went viral and attracted a crowd of people who came to the field on September 27 and began cutting ripe heads of cabbage in front of the dumbfounded farmer.
The businessman began to convince the Russians that they had been “fooled” by the fake video and asked them to stop, but they continued to harvest.
The family that owns the business estimates the damage at hundreds of thousands of rubles. But the farmers have not yet contacted the police, although the damage is called "significant."
The harvesters cut only part of the crop. The bulk was harvested in the summer and early fall. The last fruits ripened there at the end of September.
The family wants to start by finding the author of the video. It was this video that caused mass confusion among Russians.
There is no point in blaming the collectors themselves for this, although they refused to stop when asked to do so.
The attacked enterprise has been operating since 2004 and cooperates with a number of organizations in Yakutsk and firms located in other cities of the region.
