Russian women urged to give birth to welders and painters due to staff shortage
In the Sverdlovsk region, local women were encouraged to have more children in order to fill the shortage of blue-collar jobs.
This proposal was made by the General Director of the Sverdlovsk Region Capital Repair Fund, Stanislav Sukhanov.
On the air of the program “Stand,” as reported by the OTV website, the official called on Russian women to give birth more often due to the shortage of qualified personnel in the region.
In July, local authorities suggested that Russian women give birth to three children in order to solve the problem of a shortage of electricians.
However, in 2024, the region faced a shortage of specialists in other professions as well. Therefore
Sukhanov called on local women to give birth to more welders, roofers, plasterers and painters.
The region needs a workforce that can carry out major repairs, he emphasized.
The CEO of the capital repairs fund added that foreigners had long made up 80% of workers in this sector. Now the personnel cannot fully meet the needs of the sector.
