The head of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, announced that mass spam calls may be banned in the Russian Federation.
As the official emphasized, the Cabinet of Ministers may submit a corresponding decree to the State Duma in September.
Shadayev explained: “We will introduce a bill in September 2024,” as reported by RIA Novosti .
The minister made this information public in a conversation with reporters today, August 23.
It was previously reported that Maksut Shadayev first spoke about the above-mentioned plans in April of this year, 2024.
During the specified period, the minister emphasized that due to mass spam calls, which often belong to scammers, tensions are growing among Russians.
The official pointed out: “Many citizens of our country are now very wary of any incoming voice calls.”
Today, the country provides for administrative liability for spam calls. The corresponding decree was approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin in April.
