The Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education has made adjustments to the rules concerning the distribution of budget places among Olympiad participants.
Representatives of the department spoke about the relevant rules on Wednesday, August 14.
The Ministry of Education and Science has prepared measures that will eliminate situations in which the majority of places allocated for budgetary education go to winners and prize winners of school Olympiads.
Now only winners and prize winners of 11th grade Olympiads will be accepted without entrance examinations, TASS reports.
This rule also applies to winners and prize winners of school Olympiads of levels 1–2.
In addition, the new measures imply a quota of no more than 70% of applicants without exams from the total number of budget places in each field.
About 36% of applicants who entered universities in 2024 admitted that they did so to fulfill their childhood dreams.
Also, for 31% of respondents, the motivation was the possibility of earning money in the future.
