Rospotrebnadzor reported cases of listeriosis infection
The supervisory authority described the situation with listeriosis in Russia.
In recent years, isolated cases of this deadly disease have been registered in the Russian Federation.
The incidence of listeriosis in Russia is at the level of 0.07 per 100 thousand population, TASS reports.
Rospotrebnadzor is carrying out sanitary and preventive measures to protect Russians from the outbreak of this disease.
In 2023, the agency examined 120,000 samples of meat and processed products. About 4% of the samples were found to be unsuitable for microbiological indicators.
In total, last year experts withdrew more than 84 tons of meat and meat products from circulation, 60% of which were food raw materials.
The situation in the USA and Canada
Cases of listeriosis were first reported in Canada, where two people died and nine were hospitalized.
Later, Canada's southern neighbors reported an outbreak of listeriosis. In the United States, 28 people fell ill, and two more died. The geography of listeriosis in this case is quite extensive - the disease was detected in 12 states.
