Roskomnadzor has restricted access to Viber
Roskomnadzor has decided to restrict one of the popular messengers among Russians.
We are talking about the Viber program, which was found to be violating Russian legislation.
Roskomnadzor reported this on its Telegram channel.
As specified in the publication, this concerns the messenger administration’s failure to comply with the requirements of Russian legislation.
It is noted that the agency resorts to such measures in a number of cases when messengers are involved in:
- sale of prohibited substances;
- posting illegal information;
- recruitment of citizens into extremist organizations;
- assistance in using the messenger for terrorist and extremist purposes.
The publication does not specify which specific case of violation is being discussed.
Let us recall that earlier RKN applied similar measures to the Discord messenger, popular among gamers.
On October 8, access to it was blocked in Russia with the same wording as now in relation to Viber.
