Popova Reveals Why There Was a Botulism Outbreak in Russia

The cause of the botulism outbreak in Russia has been named.

The head of Rospotrebnadzor said that human casualties were caused by violations in food production technologies.

Anna Popova made this statement during a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, RIA Novosti reports.

Let us recall that an outbreak of a dangerous disease occurred in several regions of Russia at once.

In particular, people who ordered the following dishes sought medical attention with symptoms of botulism:

  • lobio prepared by the organization "Kitchen on the District";
  • salad with tuna, beans and apple, supplied by the organization "Gastroport".

It is noted that both dishes contained beans. The product used by the chefs was purchased abroad.

At the moment, 417 cases of botulism have been identified in Russia in Moscow, the Nizhny Novgorod region and Kazan. Unfortunately, there were casualties: 2 people have already died from its consequences.
