Gennady Onishchenko commented on cases of Coxsackie virus infection in Russian kindergartens.

An epidemiologist and first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science noted that it is incorrect to call what is happening an outbreak of the disease.

He explained that this is about an increase in the incidence of the disease against the backdrop of an increase in cases of influenza and other respiratory infections, Russian Public Television reports.

Recent complaints from parents about blisters, high fever and stomatitis in children attracted Onishchenko's attention.

Messages about the spread of the Coxsackie virus in kindergartens and schools in a number of Russian regions have spread across social networks.
