It has become known why power unit No. 4 of the Kursk NPP was disconnected from the grid.
A comment from representatives of the nuclear power plant appeared on the Kursk NPP Telegram channel.
The fourth power unit has been disconnected from the grid due to scheduled maintenance work.
Technical measures of this kind are not uncommon for Russian nuclear power plants. These works are necessary for uninterrupted and safe production of electricity.
Representatives of the station emphasized that the radiation background is within normal limits and does not exceed background values.
Repair work on the fourth unit began on August 25. Power unit No. 3 is currently operating.
The first and second are switched off due to reaching the established service life.
The repair work will last 59 days. About 2 thousand specialists will be involved in the technical activities.
Over the course of almost two months, they will perform approximately 13,000 technical operations. They will modernize and extend the service life of the equipment.
