Law enforcement officials confirmed that Temur Khusinov did not participate in the hostage taking in IK-19.
Previously, the prisoner’s mother made a statement that her son was not a participant in the events that took place outside the walls of the correctional facility.
Representatives of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Volgograd Region reported that Khusinov was indeed not involved in the hostage taking in the colony located in the city of Surovikino, TASS reports.
The department added that the prisoner’s mother will be notified of her son’s whereabouts in accordance with the established procedure.
Before this, Khusinov was named as one of the participants in the hostage taking in IK-19. Among those taken hostage were both convicts and employees of the correctional facility.
The criminals were identified from video footage that was circulated online.
Khusinov's mother later stated that her son was due to be released in two months, so he would not have done such a thing.
The woman also stated that the footage shown does not depict her son, but some other person.
The incident, which caused a wide resonance in the media and social networks, occurred in the Volgograd region on August 23.
The prisoners started a riot, during which several of the colony's workers were killed. The instigators of the riots themselves were eliminated by snipers.
