Ombudsman reports increase in number of complaints from women regarding violence

The Moscow Human Rights Commissioner spoke about the situation with domestic violence in the capital.

According to Tatyana Potyaeva, the number of requests to her committee on this issue continues to grow.

The ombudsman made this statement during a round table of the Committee for the Protection of the Family, Issues of Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood, RIA Novosti reports.

During the event, questions were raised about the activities of crisis centers that exist to help women in difficult situations related to domestic violence.

According to the results of last year, 54 complaints from women related to domestic violence were recorded in Moscow alone.

And already in the current period of 2024, the department has received 66 requests from women, also related to issues of domestic violence.

Potyaeva noted that in order to provide effective assistance to women in need, non-profit organizations that do this must receive appropriate support.
