Repeat offender Anvar Masalimov may be released before the end of 2024.

A particularly dangerous repeat offender previously sentenced to death may be released before the New Year.

Anvar Masalimov, who has served three terms and has not admitted guilt on any of the charges, may be released in December, RIA Novosti emphasizes in its article.

In 1980, he received 15 years in prison for the murder of a drinking buddy. He was released on parole in 1991.

It is worth noting that after his release, another murder followed. Masalimov killed a pensioner from whom he rented a room.

In October 1992, the court recognized him as an “especially dangerous recidivist.”

Masalimov was sentenced to death. He waited six years to be executed, and against the backdrop of Russia's preparations to join the Council of Europe.

However, he ended up receiving a life sentence due to the prohibition of the death penalty.

The criminal was released in 2016 after his appeal for a reduced sentence was granted.

In 2019, the repeat offender once again ended up in prison for attempted murder with a knife.

In October 2024, it was reported that he could be released. Masalimov will most likely be released before the New Year.
