Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a law according to which propaganda of prohibited substances on the Internet can lead to a prison sentence of 2 years.
It is emphasized that the dissemination of information about such substances should not be present in the literature.
The text of the regulatory legal act states: “Prohibited substances may be mentioned in literature if this is an important part of the artistic concept,” as reported by RIA Novosti .
The specified works of art must be appropriately labeled.
In this case, the exception is literature published before August 1, 1990.
It is also emphasized that the ban on the promotion of narcotic substances will not apply to medical, scientific and educational publications.
Materials from operational investigative activities will not be subject to containment.
The above-described regulatory legal act will enter into force on September 1, 2025, and its provisions will come into effect during the specified period.
