Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a federal bill that will give law enforcement officers the right to expel foreign citizens from the country.
It is emphasized that until today, only judges and border service employees had these powers.
It is emphasized that foreign nationals and stateless persons will be subject to deportation in the event of certain violations being identified against them, as reported by RIA Novosti .
Before being expelled from the country, the person subject to deportation is placed in a special institution.
The decision to place a foreigner in a special institution is made by the head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The said verdict may also be issued by the head of the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the head of the FSB of Russia and the head of the border service.
The period of stay of a foreign citizen or stateless person in a special institution is 48 hours.
It is reported that the above-described regulatory legal act will come into force 180 days after its official publication.
