People came out to demand justice for the murder of a female taxi driver.

Riots rocked the city on the evening of October 24, when residents staged a spontaneous gathering in the gypsy quarter after the murder of a 40-year-old taxi driver, the website of the Chelyabinsk Region Governor reports.

Before her death, the taxi driver received a call to the "gypsy quarter".

Law enforcement officers detained a 17-year-old resident of Korkino, a possible suspect, from the Roma diaspora.

The investigation believes that during the conflict the teenager inflicted at least four stab wounds to the woman's chest.

The unrest began when angry residents staged a spontaneous gathering in the gypsy quarter.

The press service of the Chelyabinsk regional government stated that representatives of the local administration and investigators were working at the scene of the incident.

Currently, the situation in the city has stabilized thanks to the presence of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian National Guard.
