The Elektrostal City Court in the Moscow Region has issued a verdict against former RBC and Vedomosti journalist Oksana Goncharova.
Goncharova was reportedly sentenced to seven years in prison for the murder of her cohabitant.
It is reported that the prosecution requested eight years in prison for the journalist, as reported by TASS .
In addition, it is emphasized that the sentence has not yet entered into legal force and can be appealed by filing an appeal.
As the court that passed the sentence explained, Goncharova committed a crime that does not allow for leniency.
During the trial, the convicted woman herself insisted that she acted in self-defense.
The defendant also emphasized that her actions did not violate the law.
Goncharova's deceased partner, in turn, had previously been convicted, including for causing serious bodily harm to a person.
The accused was convicted under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The maximum penalty under this article is 15 years' imprisonment.
