Fines for speeding will increase sharply in Russia from January 1

In Russia, increased fines for exceeding the speed limit will be introduced from January 1.

According to the bill, administrative fines will be increased by 50%.

The corresponding document was published in the Duma’s electronic database.

The new regulations follow from the amendments considered by the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation for the second reading.

It is proposed to establish new fines for all cases specified in Article 12.9 of the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Offenses.

According to the amendments, exceeding the speed limit by 20-40 km/h will be fined from 500 rubles to 750 rubles.

The fine for exceeding the speed limit by 40-60 km/h will increase to 2-2.5 thousand rubles, for 60-80 km/h – 3-3.75 thousand rubles.

New increased fines will come into effect in Russia from January 1, 2025.
