Doctor Alexander Myasnikov named a myth about diabetes that it’s time to stop believing.
Replacing sugar with honey does not reduce the risk of developing this disease.
The doctor stated this on the air of the program “The Most Important Thing” on the channel “ Russia 1 ”.
To prevent type 2 diabetes, you need to monitor your diet.
It is important not to get too carried away with fast carbohydrates. These include not only sugar, the doctor emphasized.
Honey, white bread and rice also fall into this category, so replacing sugar with honey is not a guarantee of protection against diabetes.
Therefore, honey should not be overused when it comes to reducing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
The expert also noted that people with diabetes should not use sugar substitutes.
Such additives only multiply potential health risks, the doctor emphasized.
Myasnikov stated that sugar substitutes can increase the risk of cardiovascular and oncological diseases.
Previously, Myasnikov also dispelled the myth that taking statins can lead to the development of diabetes.
The doctor said that this statement had lost its relevance after the research conducted.
