Actor Anatoly Gridin from "The Marriage of Balzaminov" Dies
Information has been received about the death of one of the Russian theater and film actors.
Anatoly Gridin, who played a role in the popular film “The Marriage of Balzaminov,” has passed away.
The Mariinsky Theatre press service shared the sad news on its official website.
According to the Mariinsky, the artist passed away the night before, on October 19. The cause that took the life of 94-year-old Gridin is not specified.
The theatre expressed deep condolences to all the relatives and friends of the deceased actor.
What the actor was remembered for
The charismatic and talented Anatoly Gridin is remembered primarily for his roles in two television ballets: “The Marriage of Balzaminov” (1989) and “Anyuta” (1982).
He joined the Mariinsky Theatre back in 1952. Gridin performed on stage a lot during Oleg Vinogradov’s productions.
He was the first to perform two famous roles on stage, playing the roles of Severian in Prokofiev’s The Stone Flower and the Vizier in Melikov’s The Legend of Love.
