A loud scandal has erupted in the Tver region over a New Year tree.
The installation of a New Year tree on the central square of Krasny Kholm in October caused a wave of indignation.
Local authorities decided to decorate the square with a symbol of the winter holidays on October 14, Izvestia writes.
However, many residents did not appreciate the local administration’s initiative.
The townspeople were outraged by the early appearance of the spruce and a scandal erupted.
In response to public discontent, the authorities conducted a poll on social media to find out whether the tree should be left in place.
In response, residents expressed concerns that dismantling and reinstalling the tree would take even more money from the budget.
As a result, the survey showed that the majority of residents agreed to leave the Christmas tree in place.
