The second incident involving killer whales has occurred in Kamchatka.
Several individuals, after being released from the shallows, got stuck again in the estuary.
RIA Novosti reports this, citing a representative of the regional headquarters of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
It is noted that the incident with marine mammals became known the day before.
Four killer whales were trapped in the muddy bottom of the estuary near the village of Ustyevo, located in the Sobolevsky district.
Volunteers, State Inspectorate for Small Vessels (GIMS) inspectors and local rescuers gathered at the scene of the incident, manually moving the multi-ton animals and dousing them with water while waiting for the high tide.
After the water came in, the killer whales were released and continued their journey to the sea. However, they did not make it to the mouth and ran aground again on October 3.
Today, 8 rescuers will go to help the injured animals. It is planned that the killer whales will be manually watered until the next high tide, when the whales will be able to set off again.
