Several times a year, a phenomenon called a supermoon occurs.

On this day, the Earth's satellite appears brighter and larger than usual.

As RIA Novosti Crimea learned from the head of the federal astronomical program Space, Kirill Lazarenko, the next supermoon will occur tomorrow, October 17.

A large and bright moon will rise over the Northern Hemisphere of the Earth. All residents of Russia will be able to see the luminary in all its glory, if the weather permits and the celestial body does not hide behind the clouds.

Supermoons occur 2-3 times a year and do not have any impact on people's lives and do not cause natural disasters.

According to Lazarenko, this phenomenon is only a beautiful visual effect.

Starting on October 17, the Earth's satellite will approach the planet and will appear larger and brighter than usual.

The upcoming supermoon will reach its apogee at 03:47 Moscow time. It is at this moment that the moon will be at its closest distance to Earth for the entire past 2024.
