The press service of VTB Bank reported that telephone scammers have developed a new criminal scheme.
It is reported that today the scammers have begun to introduce themselves as employees of the State Archives.
Having misled the victim, the criminals begin to ask her for access to her digital services, as reported by RIA Novosti .
VTB Bank explained: “The victim is told that he has some old letters that he has not received yet and that they need to be examined.”
The fraudsters then send a verification code via SMS and in a similar manner subsequently obtain the client’s digital data.
As the credit organization added, the scammers lull the victim's vigilance by saying that they are allegedly calling from an organization that has no access to the money.
According to VTB Bank, criminals very often offer to receive letters at the MFC or at the Russian Post.
At the same time, the scammers also name the date and time for online registration, which also misleads citizens.
As experts in the relevant field explained, the best option in this case would be to end the conversation without dictating any incoming messages.
