The State Duma has called on Russians to remain vigilant when downloading one type of mobile application.

Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, shared a comment on this topic.

Mobile applications have become commonplace even for those who rarely use their phones. There are now a huge number of them and they help solve hundreds of problems.

For example, health apps. They allow you to monitor your basic health indicators, track your physical activity, keep a food diary, and so on.

In a conversation with RIA Novosti, Nemkin warned that a method of deception with this type of application is now gaining popularity.

Fraudsters create an application that supposedly helps monitor health.

But this is just a cover. In reality, the scammers receive various confidential information: from the history of medical visits to banking data.

For example, a user may be convinced to purchase premium features that are only available after payment. After entering bank details, the scammers gain access to all of the victim's funds.
