The expert believes that even artificial intelligence will not be able to identify a potential serial killer in advance.

A veteran of the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department (MUR) special service, Alexey Lobarev, shared a comment on this topic.

In an interview with Radio 1 , the expert said that each criminal and crime is a set of individual factors.

Modern AI works according to strictly defined algorithms. They take into account certain patterns, but trying to predict a serial killer is more difficult.

Lobarev believes that at the present stage artificial intelligence is not capable of this.

The MUR veteran pointed out that when creating a portrait of a killer, a whole range of factors are taken into account: age, mood, degree of illness, social environment, influence of friends and acquaintances, environment, education, occupation.

Lobarev said that there is currently no algorithm capable of predicting where and how a crime will be committed.

In his opinion, modern technologies cannot predict a person’s desire to do something that is contrary to the law.

Attempts to create such AI may not be successful, because in such cases individual factors decide, and some universal models may give an erroneous forecast.
