IT expert predicts YouTube issue will be resolved in the next day and a half
The question of the future of YouTube in Russia will be decided this week.
This opinion was expressed in his Telegram channel by leading analyst of Mobile Research Group Eldar Murtazin.
The slowdown of the popular video hosting service will end in the next day and a half, an expert said.
He called the information "a rumor from a couple of informed sources" who are involved in the situation.
"In short. If nothing happens in the next day and a half, then the YouTube block, which no one will admit to, will be lifted," Murtazin said.
Amid problems with the video service owned by Google, alternative platforms have begun to gain popularity in Russia.
MTS's NUUM service reported a 2.2-fold increase in the amount of content being uploaded. Over the past two weeks, authors have uploaded more than 200,000 videos.
The VK Video app is named the most downloaded app by Russians in the AppStore. Some Russians have also started using Rutube more actively.
In the summer of 2024, it was also reported that YouTube had another competitor in Russia – a service called “Platform”.
