Scientists have discovered how strawberries improve the health of the cardiovascular system.
Researchers from the Illinois Institute of Technology (USA) have named the exact number of berries that need to be eaten for heart health.
The scientists shared their findings in a paper published on the website of the annual conference of the American Society of Nutrition – Nutrition 2024.
The study, which lasted for four weeks, involved 36 women and 32 men. The subjects were aged 20–62 years. The volunteers were divided into two groups.
The first ate 8 strawberries daily. The second did not make any adjustments to her diet.
As a result, the volunteers from the 1st group improved the functioning of the endothelium. It is involved in regulating blood clotting, creating new blood vessels, and controlling blood pressure.
Scientists have found that strawberries have a beneficial effect on the endothelium. Just 8 berries a day reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, including hypertension and thrombosis.
Eight strawberries not only strengthen the health of the heart and blood vessels. They also contain the daily norm of vitamin C and a lot of useful biologically active compounds.
