Two-factor or passwordless authentication will prevent passwords from leaking onto the Internet.

Ksenia Kokoreva gave advice on what to do in case of a password leak.

The head of the information security team at Mail.ru told Gazeta.Ru what to do first.

She said that first of all, you need to report the theft of your password by fraudsters to the service's technical support.

The password should be changed if you suspect that it may be compromised.

Kokoreva recommends changing your old password to a new, secure and unique one.

A new password must be at least 12 characters long, including uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

The expert also advises using two-factor authentication.

She also recommends giving preference to passwordless authentication using an electronic key.
