Earth's North Magnetic Pole Slows Shift Towards Russia

Scientists have discovered that the North Magnetic Pole is moving towards Russia in a way never seen before.

The North Magnetic Pole, which had been actively shifting towards the Russian Federation for a long time, began to move more slowly.

Over the past five years, its speed has slowed to 25 kilometers per year, the British newspaper Independent reported, citing William Brown, an expert on the geomagnetic field from the British Geological Survey.

Previously, the pole was located in the area of Canada. It gradually moved towards the Arctic Ocean.

However, in the 1990s, its movement accelerated. It began to actively approach Siberia.

Scientists explain this by the movement of molten iron in the Earth's liquid core.

As Brown notes, it is difficult to predict what will happen next. The processes occurring in the Earth's core are extremely unpredictable.

Researchers continue to study this process, but cannot yet say exactly what such movements will lead to.
