An unusual space phenomenon has become known, which was recorded by British scientists.

One of the galaxies collided with four others, resulting in the creation of a powerful sound wave.

As noted in the publication of the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, echoes of this phenomenon reached Earth.

As British scientists have found out, the rarest phenomenon was recorded 290 million light years from our planet. At this distance there is a group of galaxies called Stephan's Quintet.

One of the galaxies that belongs to this interstellar formation crashed into four of its neighbors at great speed.

Experts compared the power of the shock wave that was created as a result of the collision to the sonic boom of a jet fighter.

It is noted that this phenomenon will help scientists on Earth to better understand the processes that occur in the depths of space.

For reference

A galaxy is a gravitationally bound system of stars, star clusters, interstellar gas and dust, dark matter, and planets.
