Does it really matter what others think of you: how to overcome dependence on other people's opinions

Living in society, we are inevitably constantly confronted with the opinions of other people.

And if someone else’s opinion becomes more authoritative for us than our own, then it’s time to do something about it.

How to stop depending on other people's opinions

First, you need to realize an important fact: no one lives your life except you. Therefore, you can only be judged superficially.

It is important to remember that all people are different. You will not like someone and you certainly cannot please everyone. So it is better to just let go of the fact that there will always be someone who will say or think worse about you than you would like.

If you are hurt by everything people say about you, even if it is not true, it is time to develop a thick skin. No one is talking about a complete ban on emotions, but you need to learn to abstract and discard unnecessary thoughts and feelings.

Only constructive criticism should matter to you, and only from those you trust.

Don't forget that everyone thinks first of all about themselves. Therefore, it's time for you to do the same.
