The current President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has responded for the first time to the presidential elections held in the country.
Zurabishvili declared the vote that took place in parliament illegitimate.
She stressed that for the first time in the history of Georgia, the president was elected by an electoral college of 300 members of parliament, Formula News reports.
She stressed that no one elected anyone and nothing happened.
Zurabishvili confirmed her intention to remain in her post until new legitimate parliamentary elections are held.
She made the statement in front of protesters who are protesting against the ruling Georgian Dream party's decision.
The protesters called Zurabishvili the only legitimate president. They said they would not recognize Kavelashvili as the new head of state.
