The Russian President proposed making changes to the state’s nuclear doctrine.
Vladimir Putin touched on this topic during his opening speech at a meeting on nuclear deterrence.
This was reported on Wednesday, September 25, on the Kremlin’s official Telegram channel.
It is proposed to make several clarifications to the part of the document that defines the conditions for the use of nuclear weapons (NW).
The draft of the updated doctrine expands the category of countries and military alliances against which Moscow will conduct nuclear deterrence.
In addition, the list of threats for the neutralization of which Russia will carry out nuclear deterrence measures has been expanded.
The new version of the document addresses the situation when the Russian Federation is attacked by a non-nuclear state, but with the support of countries that possess nuclear weapons.
In that case, Moscow will qualify this as a joint attack.
