The United States is considering creating a new land route through Armenia and Azerbaijan.
This route is being created to provide Central Asian countries with access to world markets.
This was stated by James O'Brien, US Assistant Secretary of State, RIA Novosti reports.
He told a meeting of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that the route would pass through Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Central Asia is rich in natural resources, O'Brien said. However, all trade routes now cross Russia and China.
If new trade routes are opened that bypass Russia and China, Central Asian countries will reduce their dependence on Russia and China.
This will also help countries strengthen their trading capabilities.
