The State Duma will introduce a facial recognition system for deputies
Facial recognition systems will be installed at the entrances to the State Duma.
Turnstiles at the entrances to the lower house of parliament will appear by the start of the autumn session, on September 6.
Deputies and their assistants will need to take photos for the database so that the turnstiles can open, Vedomosti writes.
During the first part of the transition period, turnstiles and passage will operate in the old order.
Deputies will undergo a special photo procedure for facial recognition.
Previously, identification by facial features and passage through the screen of the deputy’s personal tablet were proposed.
The implementation of the new system may take some time. Not all deputies may be happy, as not everyone trusts new technologies.
Also in August comes the vacation period. Many parliamentarians will be busy working with voters.
