State Duma deputy from Crimea Mikhail Sheremet warned citizens who left Russia about the danger.
According to the parliamentarian, these Russians could repeat the fate of Telegram founder Pavel Durov.
Sheremet explained: "I call on these people to wake up and not be naive. It is an illusion that it is safer abroad," as reported by RIA Novosti .
According to the deputy, Russian citizens abroad will forever remain “bargaining chips” for the West.
In addition, Sheremet pointed out the fact that representatives of Western authorities act using methods that are far from democratic.
As the politician pointed out, the case of Durov’s arrest in France became a striking example of “Western democracy with a stick.”
The founder of Telegram was detained in France upon arrival from Azerbaijan.
It later became known that Durov was released, but with the condition that judicial control was in effect against him.
