The State Duma commented on the introduction of sanctions against Gazprombank.
According to the expert, the US will ultimately make concessions and allow European countries to pay through the financial organization.
This opinion was expressed by the head of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets, Anatoly Aksakov, in a conversation with RIA Novosti journalists.
Let us recall that restrictive measures against Gazprombank and six of its subsidiaries were introduced on Thursday.
However, it is this bank that is used to pay for Russian gas supplied to EU countries.
Consequently, Aksakov believes that the US will make an exception for European companies, since it is unlikely to want to “step on the throat” of itself and its EU colleagues, who need Russian blue gold and a way to pay for its deliveries.
For reference
Gazprombank is one of the largest universal banks in Russia, ranking third among banks in Central and Eastern Europe in terms of equity capital.
