There have been rumours that the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline could be put up for sale as part of the bankruptcy proceedings of the project operator Nord Stream 2 AG.

American investor Stephen Lynch has expressed his hypothetical desire to purchase the gas pipeline.

Commenting on these rumors, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, denied them.

As RIA Novosti reports, the official representative of the Kremlin was asked a question regarding the sale of Nord Stream 2 at auction.

However, Peskov noted that he had not heard of Gazprom’s desire to enter into such a deal.

According to him, there were no rumors that the company's shareholders were ready to sell the critical energy infrastructure facility and thereby hand it over to the United States.

For all other questions, Peskov recommended contacting Gazprom representatives.
