The European Union has outlined its position on Russia’s claims regarding its frozen assets.

A statement on this matter was made by the candidate for the post of head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas.

Josep Borrell's successor called Russia's claims on its frozen assets in Europe legitimate, Bloomberg reports.

At the same time, the former Prime Minister of Estonia recommended that Moscow abandon hopes for the return of these funds.

Kallas stressed that she and other EU representatives recognise the legitimacy of Russia's claims.

She added that Moscow still has some chance of getting the funds back, but it is becoming less and less.

The former Prime Minister of Estonia admitted that the assets will be unfrozen when the conflict is resolved.

But she stressed that by that time, there will probably be nothing left of these funds.

Russia has repeatedly emphasized that the confiscation of Russian assets will be followed by an immediate response.

In addition to Moscow’s retaliatory actions, the West will be hit by side effects that will be associated with the loss of confidence in the euro and the dollar on the part of the world community.
