A public execution of a relative of former President Bashar al-Assad may have taken place in Syria.
The politician's cousin has fallen into the hands of the Syrian opposition, local media report.
Suleiman al-Assad was publicly executed in a square in the city of Latakia, Alkhali24 reports. He headed the National Defense Forces.
During the offensive by the armed opposition, a relative of the ex-president was arrested and then killed in the center of Latakia.
Local media claim that the reason for the massacre was blood ties with Bashar al-Assad, who fled Syria.
It is also emphasized that the rebels thus took revenge for crimes against people who previously opposed the Assad regime.
The situation in Syria remains tense. On December 8, the opposition entered Damascus and announced that it had taken full control of the country.
Bashar al-Assad left Syria that day and arrived in Moscow with his family.
