'Strongly condemn': EU reacts to Israeli Finance Ministry's comments on Palestinian deaths
The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, commented on the words of the head of the Israeli Ministry of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich, about the deaths of Palestinians.
Earlier, Smotrich stated that the death of millions of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip is acceptable.
Borrell responded as follows: “We strongly condemn such rhetoric,” as reported by RIA Novosti .
In addition, the head of European diplomacy called on official Tel Aviv to distance itself from such statements.
Europe's reaction
Borrell also called the fact that Smotrich allows the blocking of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip as part of the fight to free Israeli hostages alarming.
As the Israeli minister pointed out, such “sacrifices” can be justified.
The European diplomat reminded Israel that deliberately creating conditions of famine is a war crime.
The conflict between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas first broke out on October 7, 2023.
