Deputy Konstantin Zatulin stated that Abkhazia is using provocations to create a negative image of Russia in the eyes of the republic’s residents.

The first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs shared his opinion on this topic against the backdrop of the energy crisis in Abkhazia.

In an interview with Lenta.ru , the politician noted that the authorities of the neighboring country are “playing games,” engaging in provocations and speculation.

Zatulin cited the situation with electricity as an example. Due to its shortage, the authorities announced the closure of schools and kindergartens.

But, as the deputy noted, no one imposes serious restrictions on mining, which takes the lion's share of energy.

A member of the lower house of parliament pointed out that mining enriches some representatives of the government and the opposition.

Zatulin emphasized that the Abkhazians have a way out: to pay for electricity from the Russian Federation at the established price.

The deputy noted that it is 2 times lower than the price at which Türkiye sells electricity to Georgia.

But Abkhazia does not want to admit its mistakes and continues to “play games”, presenting Russia in a negative light.

The parliamentarian called on the republic’s authorities to reconsider their policy: “You’ll just end up playing yourself out, that’s all.”
