In 2024, relations between Russia and North Korea have strengthened significantly.

More than 40 meetings took place between Moscow and Pyongyang at the diplomatic, economic and military levels.

Russia has had about four times more contacts with North Korea than with China, The Wall Street Journal writes.

Putin and Kim Jong-un have exchanged more than ten letters. This significantly exceeds the communication between the Russian president and Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Experts believe that China is concerned about such rapprochement.

Xi Jinping and Kim Jong-un have not met in person for about five years. At the same time, Kim Jong-un met Vladimir Putin twice in 2024.

Beijing is unhappy with the situation, but does not publicly express its displeasure.
