At a meeting with the heads of leading media outlets from the BRICS countries, he spoke about which country is leading among the countries with the strongest economies in the world.
He noted that China ranks first in terms of purchasing power parity, RIA Novosti writes.
According to Putin, the United States is in second place, despite higher per capita figures.
Putin also pointed out the difference in population between China and America.
The Russian president also stressed that China's economy has grown significantly in recent years.
In third place, according to Putin, is India.
The President added that Russia ranks fourth, slightly ahead of Japan.
