Russian President Vladimir Putin responded to information about the transfer of 1,500 soldiers from the DPRK to the Russian Federation.

He called the satellite images “a serious thing” and recalled Article 4 of the new treaty between Russia and the DPRK.

This clause provides for the possibility of military assistance in the event of an attack, TASS writes.

Putin stated this at a press conference following the BRICS summit.

The President stressed that Russia trusts the leadership of North Korea and plans to strengthen cooperation with Pyongyang.

He also noted that Russia’s actions within the framework of the treaty are the country’s internal affair.

Putin added that Moscow does not seek escalation, as other states do.

He warned that Russia is prepared for a possible escalation and suggested that opponents think about the consequences.
