Pushkov reacted to Bach's departure from the post of IOC head: "It's really time"
Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy Alexey Pushkov commented on Thomas Bach's decision to resign as head of the IOC.
He wrote on his Telegram channel that it was indeed time for Bakh to leave.
Pushkov recalled the scandalous stories of the 2024 Olympic Games, which will become the “swan song” of the IOC head.
As examples, he cited the opening ceremony of the Games, the gold medals of female boxers who failed gender tests, and swimming in the Seine with E. coli.
According to the senator, Bach's assertion about the absence of a scientific system for identifying men and women does not stand up to criticism.
Pushkov believes that the head of the IOC should not have made these statements.
The senator believes that with such difficulties in defining obvious things, it is really time for Bach to step down as head of the International Olympic Committee.
A day earlier, Bach said he did not plan to run for another term.
The IOC presidential election is scheduled to take place in March 2025.
