An expert explained why Abkhazia will continue to improve relations with the Russian Federation even after criticism of the investment law.
Political scientist Ilya Grashchenkov shared a comment on this topic.
In a conversation with NEWS.ru, the president of the Center for Regional Policy Development (CRPD) called for looking at the situation in Abkhazia not from an ideological point of view, but from an economic one.
The republic is facing a change of power after a wave of protests. President Aslan Bzhania resigns.
But even in this case, Abkhazia will maintain a pro-Russian course, believes Grashchenkov.
He explained that many in the republic see and appreciate assistance from Russia.
The position of investors from the Russian Federation caused people's indignation. The demand to give them the land caused a negative reaction from society.
But there is no ideology at the root of the conflict, the political scientist emphasized. The dispute is purely economic in nature.
The investment law has already raised questions, so the Russian side will have to take into account the discontent of the Abkhazians and find some kind of compromise.
He noted that this is important because Abkhazia could fall into the sphere of influence of investors from Georgia and Turkey.
But at the current stage the situation has not changed radically, Grashchenkov summed up.
